Brain wave monitor may spot sepsis severity faster

NCT ID NCT03244293

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether a brain activity monitor (called BIS) can help doctors quickly tell how severe sepsis is in critically ill patients. Researchers will compare BIS readings with a standard blood test (procalcitonin) in 20 patients with sepsis. The goal is to see if BIS can reliably track whether a patient is getting better or worse.
