Doctors' aching hands under the microscope: new study tracks strain during delicate cancer removals

NCT ID NCT06549894

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study measures the muscle forces experienced by gastroenterologists during a long, precise procedure called endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), which removes early-stage cancers without surgery. Ten doctors will be monitored to see how their muscles move and strain during the procedure. The goal is to gather data that could help prevent work-related pain and injuries in endoscopists.
