First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looks at whether repeated measurements of certain biomarkers in the blood can help predict if a patient in the ICU will need to be put back on a breathing tube after it is removed. The study involves 266 adults who have been on a ventilator for more than 48 hours and are ready to try breathing on their own. The goal is to improve how doctors decide when to remove the breathing tube and reduce the risk of failure.
