Dialysis patients may benefit from monthly body scans to prevent heart problems
NCT ID NCT06573567
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether using a special body scan (bioimpedance) to guide fluid removal during dialysis could reduce complications like heart attacks, strokes, and low blood pressure. Fifty adults on long-term dialysis were split into two groups: one had monthly scans to adjust their target weight, while the other had scans hidden from doctors and patients. The goal was to see if this approach leads to fewer serious events and fewer dialysis sessions with cramps or blood pressure drops.
