Electronic alerts aim to catch silent kidney damage in diabetes patients

NCT ID NCT05342545

Summary

This study tested whether a simple electronic alert in a doctor's computer system could help catch early kidney disease in people with type 2 diabetes. About 400 patients who had diabetes but hadn't had the recommended annual kidney check in the past year were included. The alert reminded doctors during a patient's visit to order the simple urine test, with the goal of finding kidney problems earlier when treatment can be more effective.
