First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tested whether a smartphone-based lottery program could help people with high blood pressure take their medication more consistently. About 400 adults with poorly controlled blood pressure were randomly assigned to receive lottery rewards or standard care. The goal was to see if the incentive improved medication adherence and lowered systolic blood pressure over six months.
