Breath and blood tests could revolutionize asthma diagnosis

NCT ID NCT05992519

Summary

This study aimed to see if two simpler tests—measuring a gas in a person's breath (FeNO) and counting a type of white blood cell (eosinophils)—could accurately diagnose asthma. It involved 123 people aged 12 and older whose doctors suspected they had asthma but whose initial breathing test was unclear. The goal was to find faster, easier tests that can be done outside a hospital and might also show if someone's airways are inflamed.
