New study tracks diabetes progression in younger vs older patients

NCT ID NCT07574138

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study follows 296 Vietnamese adults with type 2 diabetes for one year to compare how insulin-producing beta cells change in people diagnosed before age 40 versus those diagnosed at 40 or older. Researchers will measure blood markers like C-peptide and HbA1C at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. The goal is to understand if early-onset diabetes leads to faster loss of beta cell function, which could guide future treatment approaches.
