NCT ID NCT07159490

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested different prosthetic feet in 13 people with below-knee amputations to see which one helps them walk best while carrying infants, toddlers, or other loads. Participants tried a standard foot, a foot with a heel-stiffening wedge, and a stiffer foot. The goal was to find which design improves support, balance, and walking efficiency during load carrying.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help guide doctors in choosing the best prosthetic foot for parents or caregivers with leg amputations who need to carry children or loads.

What could go wrong

This was a small, completed study with only 13 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It measured walking mechanics, not real-world benefits or long-term outcomes.
