NCT ID NCT07356765
First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether berberine, a natural compound, can safely improve negative symptoms of schizophrenia—like lack of motivation and emotion—that current medications often miss. About 120 adults with schizophrenia will receive berberine or a placebo for a set time. Researchers will also check how berberine affects gut bacteria and inflammation to understand how it works.
