Simple swallow test could catch hidden esophagus cancer risk
NCT ID NCT06687603
First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests a new, office-based method to detect Barrett's esophagus—a condition that can lead to esophageal cancer—in people who do not have chronic heartburn. Participants will answer a questionnaire, swallow a capsule balloon test (EsoCheck), and have a lab analysis (EsoGuard) to look for signs of Barrett's. They will also have a standard upper endoscopy to confirm results. The goal is to see if this non-endoscopic test can effectively screen for Barrett's esophagus in a broader population.
