Effects of visual and vestibular rehabilitation on postural stability, pain, functional status, and lower extremity biomechanics in individuals with knee osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled trial
NCT ID NCT07888920
First seen Oct 22, 2026 · Last updated Oct 22, 2026
Summary
This study aims to investigate the effects of visual rehabilitation and vestibular rehabilitation added to conventional physiotherapy on postural stability, pain, and functional status in individuals with knee osteoarthritis. Participants will be randomly assigned to three groups: conventional physiotherapy, conventional physiotherapy combined with visual rehabilitation, or conventional physiotherapy combined with vestibular rehabilitation. The study will evaluate changes in balance, pain, and functional performance before and after the intervention.

Inclusion Criteria: 1. Clinical and radiological diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis. 2. Kellgren-Lawrence Grade 2-3 knee osteoarthritis. 3. Age 40-65 years. 4. Ability to ambulate independently. 5. Voluntary participation and provision of written informed consent. - Exclusion Criteria: 1. Kellgren-Lawrence Grade 4 knee osteoarthritis. 2. History of lower extremity surgery. 3. Other orthopedic pathologies accompanying knee osteoarthritis. 4. History of neurological, vestibular, or central nervous system disease. 5. Ophthalmological disease that may affect visual perception, visual field, or peripheral vision even with corrected vision (e.g., glaucoma, retinal pathologies, advanced cataract). 6. Participation in a balance or vestibular rehabilitation program within the previous 6 months. 7.
