Summary

This study tests whether a simple, low-cost breathing device called Bag CPAP can help adults with sudden severe breathing failure avoid needing a breathing tube. About 250 adults in Rwanda will be randomly assigned to receive either Bag CPAP or standard oxygen therapy. The main goal is to see if Bag CPAP reduces the number of people who meet the criteria for intubation within 7 days.
