Immunotherapy after surgery may keep aggressive breast cancer at bay

Summary
This study tested whether adding the immunotherapy drug avelumab after standard treatments (surgery and chemotherapy) helps prevent breast cancer from coming back in people with high-risk triple negative breast cancer. About 474 participants who had already completed curative-intent treatment were randomly assigned to receive avelumab or not. The goal was to see if avelumab improves disease-free survival, especially in those whose tumors express PD-L1.
