First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested whether eye drops made from a patient's own blood (autologous serum) can relieve severe dry eye symptoms better than standard artificial tears. 46 adults with severe dry eye tried both diluted and undiluted serum drops, as well as artificial tears, in a random order. Researchers measured symptom changes using a standard questionnaire and several eye exams to see which treatment worked best.
