New device aims to save legs from amputation in blocked artery trial
NCT ID NCT06777901
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special device called the Auryon Atherectomy System, used with standard balloon angioplasty, is better than balloon angioplasty alone for treating blocked arteries below the knee in people with critical limb ischemia. About 224 adults with severe leg pain or wounds will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The goal is to see if the combination treatment reduces the risk of death, amputation, or the need for repeat procedures, and keeps arteries open longer.
