Can flipping your ears silence the ringing?
NCT ID NCT05710172
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a special earmuff device that swaps sound from your left ear to your right ear and vice versa, called auditory mirror therapy. Researchers wanted to see if this sound-flipping trick could reduce the distress, loudness, and annoyance of chronic tinnitus. 56 adults with tinnitus lasting more than 3 months took part, and the team measured changes using standard tinnitus questionnaires.
