Heart drug tested to block cancer in High-Risk bowel disease patients

NCT ID NCT04767984

Summary

This study is testing if atorvastatin, a common cholesterol-lowering drug, can help prevent colon cancer in people with long-term ulcerative colitis who have a specific genetic change. It involves 42 adults who will take either atorvastatin or a placebo pill daily for one year. Researchers will check colon tissue samples before and after treatment to see if the drug reduces the presence of a cancer-linked protein.
