NCT ID NCT07630363
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding the cholesterol drug atorvastatin to standard targeted therapy (axitinib) and immunotherapy (toripalimab) can help people with advanced kidney cancer who are not responding well to treatment. The drug combination is guided by lab tests on patient-derived tumor cells to identify who might benefit. The trial will enroll 40 participants and focus on safety and tumor shrinkage.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
atorvastatin, axitinib, toripalimab
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new, personalized treatment option for people with advanced kidney cancer that doesn't respond well to standard therapy.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The combination may cause side effects or fail to improve outcomes.
