Magnetic device could ease nerve pain in veterans without drugs
NCT ID NCT07301177
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a non-invasive magnetic stimulation device (AtMS) can reduce nerve pain caused by injury or surgery in veterans and active-duty military. 180 participants will receive either active, fixed, or sham stimulation over 16 weeks. Researchers will measure pain, mood, sleep, and daily function to see if AtMS offers real relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Transcutaneous magnetic stimulation (tMS) device
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a non-drug option to ease chronic nerve pain after injury or surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage study with no phase assigned, so results are uncertain. The device may not reduce pain more than a sham treatment.
