Common pain pills may hold key to stopping hereditary cancer

NCT ID NCT05411718

Summary

This study is testing whether two common over-the-counter pain relievers, aspirin or naproxen, can help prevent cancer in people with Lynch syndrome, a genetic condition that greatly increases cancer risk. Researchers will give 40 participants one of the drugs for a year and use colon biopsies to see if the medications boost helpful immune cells in the colon lining. The goal is to see if these safe, existing drugs can be repurposed as a preventive treatment for this high-risk group.
