Heart pump patients may soon ditch aspirin to cut bleeding risk

NCT ID NCT07644247

First seen Jun 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether people with a CH-VAD heart pump can safely stop taking aspirin while continuing other blood thinners. About 370 adults who have had the pump implanted for advanced heart failure will be randomly assigned to receive either a placebo or aspirin. The goal is to see if removing aspirin reduces serious bleeding without increasing dangerous blood clots or strokes.
