First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether two common artificial sweeteners, saccharin and acesulfame-potassium, affect blood sugar levels in middle-aged and older adults with prediabetes. Fourteen participants ate controlled breakfasts with or without these sweeteners, and their blood glucose was monitored for two hours. The goal was to understand if these sweeteners could impact glucose control in people at high risk for type 2 diabetes.
