Could a malaria drug reverse cervical Pre-Cancer?

NCT ID NCT04098744

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether a vaginal insert containing artesunate, a drug originally used for malaria, can help reverse high-grade cervical pre-cancer (CIN2/3) caused by HPV. About 78 women will receive either the drug or a placebo over three 5-day cycles. The main goal is to see if the treatment can shrink the abnormal cells back to normal or low-grade changes by week 17.
