Summary

This study tested whether amiloride, a drug that blocks a sodium channel (ENaC), can improve artery function and reduce stiffness in overweight adults with insulin resistance. The trial included 137 pre- and postmenopausal women and age-matched men. Researchers measured arterial stiffness using a gold-standard method called carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity.
