Art kits tested as a new tool to ease pain and improve mood

NCT ID NCT06554431

Summary

This small, completed study explored whether people with chronic pain and opioid use disorder would use simple, self-guided art kits at home. Researchers gave 31 participants kits for activities like mandala painting and weaving to see if the practice could provide temporary relief from pain, anxiety, and depression, and improve feelings of connection. The study also looked at whether sharing the created art could help reduce public stigma toward people with these conditions.
