New hope for critical lung patients: drug trial aims to save lives

Summary

This study is testing whether adding the drug bevacizumab to standard hospital care helps adults with severe lung failure (ARDS). About 200 hospitalized patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo, without doctors or patients knowing which one. The main goal is to see if the drug reduces deaths and helps patients breathe better and leave the hospital sooner.
