NCT ID NCT07575958
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jul 07, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether a 6-week supervised pool exercise program can improve muscle strength, mass, and quality of life in adults aged 65 and older with sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss). Participants will do 15 sessions of water-based exercises over 6 weeks. Researchers will measure muscle thickness, strength, and physical performance before, after, and one month later.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Aquatic exercise program (pool-based exercises)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a safe, effective way for older adults with sarcopenia to improve muscle strength and quality of life without the challenges of land-based exercise.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 44 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program is short (6 weeks), and benefits might not last long-term.
