New combo tackles Drug-Resistant lung cancer
NCT ID NCT04001777
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-phase trial tests a new drug called APG-1252 combined with the standard pill osimertinib in 80 people with EGFR-positive non-small cell lung cancer that has stopped responding to other targeted therapies. The goal is to find a safe dose and see if the combination can shrink tumors. The study includes patients who have already tried several treatments, including osimertinib itself.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
APG-1252 (injection) and osimertinib (tablet)
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for people with EGFR-positive lung cancer whose cancer has stopped responding to standard targeted therapies.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial with only 80 participants, focused on safety and dosing. It is too small to prove effectiveness, and the combination may cause side effects or fail to shrink tumors.
