Scientists examine aortic tissue to uncover rupture clues

NCT ID NCT07453251

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at tissue removed from patients with enlarged aortas (aneurysms) during surgery. Researchers want to measure how strong the tissue is and see if that relates to the size or thickness of the aorta. The goal is to better understand what makes an aneurysm likely to rupture. Forty adults having surgery for aortic root or ascending aortic aneurysms will take part.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors better predict when an aortic aneurysm might rupture, leading to safer treatment decisions.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage lab study on tissue already removed from patients. It does not test a new treatment, and results may not directly change patient care.
