Nerves before surgery may trigger fainting spells during anesthesia

NCT ID NCT07450014

First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether patients who are more anxious before surgery are more likely to have a sudden drop in heart rate or blood pressure (called a vasovagal event) while receiving spinal anesthesia. Researchers will measure anxiety levels in 1,500 adults and watch for these events during the procedure. The goal is to better understand the link between anxiety and physical reactions during anesthesia.
