Smartwatch score aims to keep heart patients moving

NCT ID NCT07211282

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a special activity score, calculated from heart rate data, can help people who have completed cardiac rehab stick to exercise guidelines. About 318 participants will wear a smartwatch for 4 months and do an exercise test at the end. Researchers will compare those who get feedback from the score with those who don't.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Activity score (AAI) via smartwatch
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give doctors a simple tool to help heart patients stay active and improve fitness after rehab.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial focused on monitoring, not a treatment. The activity score may not actually change behavior or improve health outcomes.
