New antibiotic combo aims to protect babies born after early water break
NCT ID NCT07183462
Summary
This study is testing if adding a second antibiotic (azithromycin) to the standard treatment (ampicillin) leads to healthier babies when a pregnant person's water breaks too early, between 34 and 37 weeks. Researchers will compare the two treatments in about 311 participants to see if the combination reduces serious newborn health problems. All participants will stay in the hospital from diagnosis until they deliver their baby.
