Gut check: Antibiotics' hidden impact on transplant recovery

NCT ID NCT03078010

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how different antibiotics change the helpful bacteria in the gut of people who have had a stem cell transplant. These patients often get fevers and low white blood cell counts, requiring antibiotics. The goal is to see which antibiotics are gentler on the gut's friendly bacteria, which may help prevent complications. About 347 adult patients with blood cancers are taking part.
