Doctors question routine antibiotics after major heart vessel surgery

NCT ID NCT05405790

Summary

This study looked back at the medical records of 457 patients who had a stent placed in their chest aorta (a major blood vessel) to repair problems like aneurysms or tears. The goal was to find out how often infections happen after this procedure and what factors might increase the risk. Researchers collected data on infection rates, fevers, and lab tests to help decide if giving preventive antibiotics is necessary.
