Could a need for control drive Anorexia's 'Tunnel Vision'?
NCT ID NCT07274722
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how a temporary loss of control changes the way people with anorexia process information. Researchers think that focusing on small details (analytical thinking) might be a way to feel more in control. They will measure reaction times before and after a control-deprivation task in 54 patients. The goal is to understand the link between control and thinking style, which could lead to better treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could point toward new psychological treatments for anorexia that focus on restoring a sense of control.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study, not a treatment trial. It measures reaction times, not clinical outcomes, so results may not directly lead to new therapies.
