Ankle fracture recovery: stirrup may beat heavy brace in getting patients moving sooner

NCT ID NCT07521696

First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study compares two types of braces after an ankle fracture: a standard rigid walker and a lighter ankle stirrup. Researchers want to see if the stirrup helps people return to physical activity faster without harming healing. About 280 adults with ankle fractures will wear an activity monitor for 12 weeks to track their movement.
