Tired ankles throw off balance – study reveals hidden risk for Sprain-Prone individuals

NCT ID NCT07273097

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how fatigue in the ankle muscles affects walking balance in people with and without chronic ankle instability (CAI). Forty adults will walk on a treadmill at two speeds while gentle pushes are applied to their hips. Researchers will measure muscle activity and step patterns before and after tiring the ankle muscles to understand why people with CAI may be more prone to falls or re-injury.
