Can a heart monitor predict blood pressure drops during dialysis?

NCT ID NCT06285162

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at a special heart monitor called the Analgesia Nociception Index (ANI) in 30 intensive care patients receiving continuous kidney dialysis. The goal is to see if changes in ANI are linked to blood pressure changes during fluid removal. Researchers hope to better understand how the nervous system affects blood pressure in this setting.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors better understand and manage blood pressure changes during kidney dialysis in intensive care.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early observational study with only 30 participants, so findings may not apply broadly. It does not test a new treatment.
