Could a simple inhaler switch prevent severe asthma attacks?

NCT ID NCT06422689

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at whether changing the rescue inhaler from albuterol alone to albuterol plus budesonide can lower the number of severe asthma attacks. About 1,500 adults with asthma who have had at least one severe attack in the past year will switch to the new inhaler. Researchers will compare attack rates before and after the switch to see if the combination therapy works better.
