Major study tests if brain scans improve Alzheimer's treatment plans
NCT ID NCT04426539
Summary
This study looked at whether a special brain scan (amyloid PET) helps doctors make better care decisions for people with memory problems or dementia. It followed over 6,000 Medicare patients from diverse backgrounds to see if the scan results changed their treatment plans and health outcomes. Researchers compared what doctors planned to do before the scan with what they actually did after getting the scan results.
