NCT ID NCT06038331
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a special implant made from donated umbilical cord tissue to treat a type of hand arthritis called STT osteoarthritis. The implant is placed in the joint during surgery to cushion it and reduce pain. Researchers will follow 14 adults for one year to see if their hand function and pain improve.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
processed amniotic membrane implant
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new surgical option to reduce pain and improve hand function without needing a more invasive procedure.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early-phase trial with only 14 people, so results may not apply widely. The implant could cause inflammation or fail to relieve symptoms.
