AI and a simple blood test could spot Alzheimer's years early

NCT ID NCT07402161

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is looking for better, cheaper ways to detect Alzheimer's disease early. Researchers will collect blood samples, brain wave recordings, and speech recordings from 250 people who have noticed memory problems but still function normally. They will use machine learning to combine all this data and see if it can predict who will develop Alzheimer's. The goal is to create a simple screening tool that could be used in regular doctor visits, avoiding expensive and invasive tests.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a simple, low-cost way to identify people at high risk for Alzheimer's years before symptoms worsen, allowing earlier access to new treatments.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The machine-learning model may not prove accurate enough for widespread use, and results may not apply to all populations.
