High altitude may raise headache risk after C-Section spinal
NCT ID NCT05804448
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will follow 292 women having C-sections with spinal anesthesia to see if those living at high altitudes get more post-dural puncture headaches than those at low altitudes. Researchers will track headache severity and compare groups. The goal is to understand if altitude is a risk factor, which could help doctors prevent or manage these headaches better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If altitude is confirmed as a risk factor, doctors could tailor spinal anesthesia techniques or aftercare for women living at high altitudes.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only looks for a link, so it won't directly change care. Results may not apply to all populations.
