First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether a medication called istradefylline, combined with short periods of breathing air with less oxygen (acute intermittent hypoxia), can improve breathing in people with ALS. About 40 adults with ALS and healthy volunteers will take part. The goal is to see if this combination is safe and helps strengthen breathing muscles.
