First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a drug called istradefylline, combined with short periods of breathing low-oxygen air (acute intermittent hypoxia), can improve breathing in people with ALS. About 40 adults with ALS and healthy volunteers will take part. The goal is to see if this combination is safe and helps the diaphragm work better, making breathing easier.
