Summary
This study tests whether a natural hormone called allopregnanolone can safely slow or reverse brain shrinkage in people with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. About 100 men and postmenopausal women aged 55-80 will receive either the hormone or a placebo over several months. The main goal is to see if it protects the memory center of the brain and improves thinking skills.
