Seaweed pills: a new hope for heart health?
NCT ID NCT07173062
Summary
This study is testing whether two types of algae supplements can improve markers of heart health and change gut bacteria in people with conditions like heart disease, diabetes, or kidney disease. 150 participants aged 50+ will take either spirulina, another seaweed supplement, or a placebo pill daily for 20 weeks. Researchers will measure blood pressure, cholesterol, gut bacteria, and various blood markers to see if the algae supplements provide benefits.
