Summary
This study is testing whether a computer alert in the medical record system can help doctors prescribe cholesterol-lowering medications to patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) who are not currently on treatment. The alert reminds both doctors and patients about guideline-recommended therapy options, including statins and alternative pills. The goal is to see if this simple prompt increases prescriptions and helps lower patients' bad cholesterol to reduce their risk of heart attack and stroke.
