First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at how heavy drinkers' brains respond when thinking about buying alcohol after seeing pictures of drinks versus non-alcoholic beverages. 72 non-treatment-seeking heavy drinkers had their brains scanned while making hypothetical drink purchase decisions. The goal was to understand how alcohol cues change the perceived value of alcohol, which may help explain drinking behavior.
