New approach tested to help HIV patients cut alcohol use
NCT ID NCT07040592
Summary
This pilot study is testing whether a combination of medication and counseling is practical, acceptable, and helpful for reducing alcohol use in people living with HIV. The 12-week program involves an existing medication (used 'off-label' for alcohol) along with support from a clinical pharmacist. Researchers aim to see if this approach is feasible and shows early signs of working for 30 participants at the Atlanta VA.
